The public shulker farm is designed for AFK farming and once the lever in the AFK box is activated it requires no further interaction, other than ensuring that it is turned off at the end of the farming session. The farm delivers the shulker shells inside a shulker box, using a shulker loader, so it may take a little time for the shulker shells to appear, but when they do arrive you will receive a lot of them.
Accessing the Farm
If you are in the Nether Hub, enter the green / East tunnel on the left-hand side and you will see the tunnel entrance at X158. The tunnel has a single line of ice blocks running along the middle and the sides are not fully spawn-proofed or enclosed. If you use a boat to travel along the ice road it should be perfectly safe, the netherrack walls will keep your boat in position, just keep an eye out for endermen. Once you have passed through the portal, you will arrive in a safe and pretty lobby area where you will find the double-chests that you can collect your shulker shells from. Here you will also see two water elevators. You will need to use these water elevators to access, and return from, the AFK spot for this farm. Once you have gone straight up the water elevator on your right, all the way to the top, you will arrive in the AFK spot. To turn the farm on, click the lever into the down / on position. Please make sure to turn the farm off using the lever before you leave the AFK area as leaving it on could break the farm.
Things to bring
The shulker shells will arrive pre-packaged in a shulker box, so all you need to bring is a boat and a spare inventory spot.
